Program 1 / HALO ACCESS
HALO ACCESS
Researching whether a non-invasive EEG prototype can distinguish deliberately trained communication commands under controlled conditions.
Current stage: concept, software demonstrations, requirements and evaluation planning. Hardware performance, command accuracy and clinical benefit have not been established.
Eleven proposed commands
- YES
- NO
- HELP
- STOP
- I'M OK
- COME HERE
- WATER
- PAIN
- REPOSITION
- CANCEL
- GO
These are research targets, not demonstrated capabilities. The system also needs a no-command rejection state. Establish a smaller-command baseline before evaluating the complete eleven-command set. Report results for each stage rather than assuming an eleven-command result from a smaller test.
What the commands mean
Command selections would convey a user's requested message to a controlled interface. HELP and PAIN do not diagnose a condition or replace an emergency service. STOP and CANCEL must leave actions under human control. Neither is a safety-rated stop. Hardware testing needs an independent manual stop. No automatic medical, mobility or equipment action is part of this proposed first study.
What we need next
We are seeking a clinic, AAC or speech-device organization, speech-language professional or EEG research collaborator to review the use case and study design. We also seek staged feasibility funding and, after review, a partner letter of support.
One meaningful test result
The first evidence packet should describe the device, acquisition setup, command labels, training and held-out sessions, number of trials, no-command periods and model version. Report per-command results, confusion matrix, false activations, latency, setup time, comfort, rejected trials and limitations. Complete applicable electrical, privacy, consent and ethics review before participant work.
Published measured results: none yet. The software demo and concept images are not test results.
Technical platform
HALO Core is the underlying technical dossier and wearable concept within HALO ACCESS. The planned architecture includes eight EEG channels and two research units for repeatability checks. These are design targets.
